Mango-Margarita

There are many versions of the origin of the famous Margarita cocktail. The truth is that all of them feature a woman as the protagonist: Marjorie, Margaret or Margarita. The first version says it was created in 1938, when Carlos "Danny" Herrera, owner of Rancho La Gloria, near Tijuana, devised a drink for a very special client, former ballerina Marjorie King, who was allergic to many liquors, but tolerated tequila. Another popularly known version tells how in 1941, Carlos Orozco, bartender at the Cantina Hussong in Ensenada, Baja California brought this cocktail to life for Margaret Henkel, the daughter of the then German ambassador. Finally, there is a third version, which tells how in Tijuana, a bartender fell in love with the beauty of a young dancer named Margarita Carmen Cansino, and created this cocktail in her honor. This beauty would later become one of the most famous actresses in the history of cinema, Rita Hayworth. Although it is not known for sure which one is the real one, there is something common in all of them: their Mexican origin and the fact that this emblematic drink has conquered many hearts around the world.
