Mexican Christmas punch - easy recipe

Drinking punch at Christmas and New Year is a deeply rooted tradition in Mexico. Christmas punch is traditionally made with fruits such as guava, tejocote (Mexican hawthorn apples), plum, orange, cinnamon and cane sugar. If you feel like trying this delicious Mexican traditional drink, we invite you to try this simple and quick recipe. We hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients:

Yields 8 to 10 servings

1 jar of Ponche Navideño (Mexican fruit mix in syrup for Mexican Christmas Punch)

2 liters of clear apple juice

250g prunes (optional)

1 cinnamon stick

Brown sugar to taste (optional)

rum

Preparation:

1. Pour the contents of the Ponche Navideño jar, the 2 liters of apple juice, the prunes (optional) and the cinnamon stick into a pot and bring to a boil. 

2. Boil everything over low heat for 30 minutes. Then add brown sugar to taste if needed and continue boiling until the sugar has dissolved.

3. Serve very hot either pure or with a dash (piquete) of rum.

4. Enjoy.
