Mexican Hot Chocolate

Chocolate is one of the most delicious things that exist. It is believed that the Mayas were the first to consume it as a hot beverage and that its consumption was reserved for the privileged classes and sacred rites. Today there are countless presentations, combinations and ways to prepare it. Traditionally, hot chocolate is prepared in Mexico with bars of table chocolate dissolved in milk or water, charming almost everyone with its delicious flavor.

Ingredients:

250g of Mexican table chocolate
1 ltr. milk or water (or 1/2ltr. milk and 1/2 ltr. water)
Optional:
Fresh orange zest
Cinnamon stick

Preparation:

1. Heat the milk and when it starts to boil, add the Mexican table chocolate.
2. Stir until the Chocolate is completely dissolved.
3. Whisk with a molinillo (Mexican wooden whisk) for approximately 2 minutes or until the mixture froths.
4. Serve hot and enjoy.

Culinary Tip
For a special touch, it is recommended to add orange zest or a little cinnamon stick for an even deeper flavor.
If you don't have a molinillo, you can also use a whisk or a hand blender to froth up the mixture.
