Nopal (cactus) smoothie

While in our latitudes, the cactus is known as a popular houseplant, in Mexico they are not only popular as a decorative element, but also as a staple food. In fact, "Nopales" (Cactus) have been consumed in Mexico since prehispanic times and are an essential part of Mexican cuisine. In Mexico, "Nopales" are used in stews, grilled, in salads, mixed with eggs or simply in sauces. Raw and also in powder form (dehydrated), they are used in smoothies and ice cream, and are also excellent as a baking ingredient.
