Tuna Aguachile

Aguachile is a typical dish from the west coast of Mexico. Its preparation is very similar to that of ceviche and its main ingredients are shrimp, fresh (or dried) chiles and lime juice in its traditional form. In its contemporary variations, Aguachile is a mixture of flavors and textures with ingredients that differ from the original recipe such as cucumbers, avocado, mango or pineapple. In addition, the shrimp is replaced by tuna, octopus or white fish.

Ingredients:

1 can of tuna
15g of Cilantro
2 Cucumbers (approx. 250g)
5g Salt & Pepper
1 avocado fresh or in guacamole
1 package of Mex-Al Baked Tostadas (it is important to bake them for a few minutes before eating them)
1 red onion
50g lime juice
1 clove garlic
20 Jalapeño Chiles (Fresh or frozen)

Preparation:

In a bowl add half of the lime juice, salt and pepper to taste. Add the tuna and marinate for at least 25 minutes. Cut the onion into thin slices and set aside. Peel the cucumbers and remove the seeds (reserve the seeds for later use). Dice the cucumber and set aside along with the onions.
Now blend the garlic, cilantro and chili together with the cucumber seeds. Add the remaining lime juice as liquid is needed in the blender.
Mix the chopped vegetables with the tuna and chili mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with tostadas and avocado!
NOTE: If you don‘t eat spicy, you can make this recipe with seedless green peppers.
Pro-TIP: If you want to give a twist to this recipe add a tropical fruit like pineapple or mango and be amazed with the result.
